A Sterling Spectical Story, Part 6, Building on the Homestead.

William and Wilder woke up early on a Saturday morning, eager to help their dad build a

pole barn on their homestead. They sat down at the kitchen table to eat a quick breakfast of

homemade Ezekiel Waffles with lots of butter and maple syrup.

Thanks, Mom, you make the best waffles, William said, syrup dripping down his chin.

Mrs. Sterling smiled.

Thanks, honey.

You had better hurry up and finish eating, though.

Your dad is waiting for you.

The twins scarfed down the rest of their food and headed outside to meet their dad,

who was already gathering the tools and materials they would need. He had a rough blueprint for the building laid out on a workbench and showed it to the boys when they joined him. Okay, boys,

here's what we're going to do, their dad said. "'We're going to start by digging some post holes.

"'We need to make sure they're deep enough

"'and spaced out evenly so the barn will be sturdy.'

William and Wilder nodded.

"'They were more than ready to get started.

"'They grabbed shovels and started digging,

"'their dad overseeing their work

"'and making sure everything was done correctly.

It was hard work, but they were determined to do their best.

Theo and Titus, their older brothers, were always being praised for their hard work ethic,

and William and Wilder were determined to display their hard work today.
