Most people agree homelessness needs to be addressed both for the people experiencing it and the community's impacted by it.

But where most people don't agree is exactly how it should be handled.

This is going to be a good step forward for the community and for our efforts to address homelessness in San Francisco.

Hotel motel conversions, tiny home conversions, modular unit investment.

New construction rehab, investments at a scale, the likes of which we've never seen.

And we're going to deploy these new comprehensive cleaning and rapid engagement

or care teams across L.A.

zeroes in on these battles over how to handle homelessness.

Jill Replogle is a reporter from KPCC and LAS Studios behind the project.

Jill, welcome to The Times.

Thanks for having me.

So your podcast series focuses on my home turf of Orange County, and too many people, both

residents and outsiders still think of OC as this rich, shiny, perfect

place where nothing bad ever happens.

But that's what I love about your podcast is that you show otherwise when it comes to homelessness.

And in fact, you indict us in your own quiet way for our delusions about homelessness.

Why did you want to take on this project?
