Los Angeles, California, the city where dreams come true and nightmares become reality.

Throughout cinema's history, LA has been portrayed more on screen than any other city,

with its hilly, picturesque vistas drenched in sunshine by day and its sprawling streets filled

with darkness and corruption by night.

It's provided the backdrops for countless film noirs, thrillers and of course horror films.

It's also had its fair share of real life horrors.

In 1969, the home invasion and murder of Sharon Tate and her friends by the Manson family

became one of the most infamous crimes in modern pop culture history.

Now seen described by one investigator as reminiscent of a weird religious right,

five persons including actress Sharon Tate were found dead at the home of Miss Tate and her husband

screen director Roman Polionski. Miss Tate, who starred in Valley of the Dolls,

was eight months pregnant and was found in a bikini-type might gown

with a rope around her neck attached to the body of a man.

This horrific true crime home invasion has of course been referenced,

adapted, explored, in countless movies, TV shows and even true crime podcasts ever since.

Authorities would allow no one in an unofficial capacity inside the posh $200,000 home

in the hills overlooking Los Angeles.

Pop culture's obsession with this particular real life home invasion has never gone away.

We find our viewers are more interested in urban crime, creeping into the suburbs.

What that means is a victim or victim is preferably well off and white, injured at the hands of the poor or minority.
