The text for this morning sermon is found in the book of First Peter, chapter 3.

That's on page 1059 for those of you that are using the Bible from the Puyrach in front of you.

First Peter 3, reading verses 1 through 6.

Likewise, you wives, be submissive to your husbands so that some, though they do not obey the

word, may be one without a word by the behavior of their wives, when they see your reverent and chase behavior.

Let not yours be the outward adorning with braiding of hair, decoration of gold, and wearing

a fine clothing. But let it be the hidden person of the heart

with the imperishable jewel of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.

So once the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves

and were submissive to their husbands as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him Lord.

And you are now her children, if you do right, and let nothing terrify you.

I would like to sum up last week's message and make a connection to this

week's message by telling you a story from I hope every one of you will read if you haven't already by by John Bunyan, 300 years old, an allegory about the life of a Christian.

And there's a man named Christian on the King's Highway.

He has escaped from the city of destruction. He's on his way to the celestial city and he encounters many difficulties.

For example, he was walking with his beloved companion,

hopeful.

And lo and behold, they left the King's Highway

and went into Bypath Meadows and there they encountered giant despair.

And he took them captive and took him home, took them home to his castle called

doubting castle and threw them in a dungeon, dark and stinking.

And the next day he came and he pummeled them and beat them
