Let's call to mind all those that we promise to pray for, especially for little Olivia Canili, who now it's

every day, but we expect a miracle through the intercession of Blessed Pauli Jericho so that she can become a saint.

Now today, September 12th, is the Feast of the Holy Name of Mary.

And it celebrates the fact that victory, when it comes, comes through Mary.

But this feast comes as the result of a tremendous military victory in the Battle of Vienna.

So in 1571, the Muslim Holy War to destroy Christianity

and to conquer Europe was stopped at the Battle of LaPanto, due primarily

to lots and lots of ordinary people praying the rosary.

I'll share that story on October 7 on the Feast of Our Lady of Victory. But with

that failed sea invasion in 1571, the Muslims sought to conquer Europe and reach Christianity by land.

By 1683, the Islamic forces had reached the heart of Europe and laid siege to Vienna.

The Emperor fled Vienna and King Louis the 14th of France ignored their cries for health

they're pleased for help and less than 15,000 defenders were trapped within the city walls of Vienna,

while the Muslim army swel to more than 150,000.

If Vienna fell, nothing would stop the Muslims from sweeping through the rest of Europe.

The small numbers of fighters left in the city were abandoned by their leaders and surrounded by a much larger force.
