I'm your host Cindy Helton, and I invite you to join us for our weekly meditations

as we seek to go deeper in the spiritual practice of stillness and inner

transformation. This week's meditation will focus on the nearness of God and the

holy quiet it ushers into our souls. There is a Celtic saying, heaven and Earth are only three feet apart,

but in thin places, that distance is even smaller.

Thin places are those moments in time

where the veil separating heaven and earth seem to disappear and the presence of God

becomes ever so real to us. I believe, if we're paying attention, we all experience those

holy moments. How that looks is different for each of us, but you know that you know you are on holy ground.

I experienced one of those thin places on my pilgrimage to Israel while sailing on the Sea of Galilee.

The Bible tells us much of Jesus' ministry occurs along the shores of Galilee.

It's where Jesus said, Come follow me to his disciples, Simon, Andrew, John, and James.

It's also the place where Jesus performed many of his miracles, including walking on water,

calming the storm, the miraculous catch of fish, and the feeding of 5,000.

I knew I was on holy ground, bearing witness to the life of Jesus and the greatest story in the

history of mankind. On this day, the air was perfectly still and a mystical fog hovered over

the water. There was no visible separation between the sky and the sea.

Heaven and nature blended together as one, and I experienced what I can only describe as a perfect peace that overwhelmed my soul.

Total stillness and a oneness with my creator filled my entire being.

I sat in reverent awe in the pure loveliness of experiencing this closeness to God.
