This is Cardinal Francis George, and I invite you to join me for the next few minutes to

reflect with Father Robert Barron on the Word of God, which is the Word on Fire.

Father Barron will challenge us to open our hearts to the Word on Fire, which is God's

Word of Love for each of us.

If our hearts are open, the Lord can change and transform us, who we might speak with

God's Love about the One who is Love.

The Archdiocese of Chicago through the generosity of Sacred Heart Parish and Winetka now presents

the Word on Fire.

Peace be with you, friends, for this holy family Sunday.

We have a wonderful reading from Paul's letter to the Colossians.

Paul is instructing his Christian community a Colosseum in Family Values to use our

jargon.

He has them to put on various virtues, compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

He has them to bear with one another and above all to forgive one another.

You know, families are wonderful.

Families are the focus of our greatest joys and, if we're honest, they can be the focus

of some of our greatest resentments, violence, and suffering.

It's both and with families.

Statistics prove, still, most violent crime takes place in families between family members.

And I'd be willing to bet everyone listening to me, who's just been through the intense

family time around Christmas, can probably witness to both sides of this equation.
