The vast majority who work in Hollywood are not superstars. This strike is primarily working people standing up for the rights of working people and the superstars standing in solidarity. Actors and writers are the front line in two battles: The rise of AI and how humanity fits into a world with artificial intelligence, and class warfare, who gets to succeed in our society. 0:35.2	Our society has changed a lot in the last 15 years, with the influx of technology.
0:39.7	But the speed at which our society changed was drastically accelerated by the pandemic.
0:44.4	The shift to online shopping, the increase on for on-demand entertainment streaming,
0:48.9	the dichotomy of who we call essential workers and whose paycheck actually rewards the work.
0:55.0	Across almost every industry, workers in America are overworked and underpaid,
1:00.1	from delivery drivers to Starbucks baristas to pilots, and workers are now collectively starting
1:05.4	to push back. They're pushing back against forced overtime, against punishing schedules,
1:10.7	against their company's reliance on their work, while they remain low paid part-time or contract
1:15.9	workers. They are pushing back on this idea of making sure labor costs stay low,
1:20.7	while profits go sky high. The Hollywood strike is just another iteration of the same
1:26.3	issue of labor unrest. The crushing cost on workers whose jobs have changed dramatically
1:32.0	in the name of speed and convenience and profit, and you don't have to be an artist to understand
1:36.9	why the writers and actors are striking right now. This strike, like many of the others that are
