I'm Gianna Jalosi with your Fox True Crime Minute. The son of a once prominent Hollywood producer

was found dead in its Los Angeles jail cell two days before his next court appearance in the dismemberment of his wife and in-laws.

His death ruled a suicide.

37-year-old Samuel Haskell was due in court Monday for a hearing to determine if he could stand trial in the 2023 murders.

He could have faced life in prison if convicted.

He pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors say a day after the

November murders, Haskell paid $500 to day laborers to carry out heavy plastic trash bags from his

Tarzana home. When they looked inside one of them, they saw human body parts return the bags

and the money to Haskell and then contacted police. That same afternoon, Haskell was allegedly

seen taking a trash bag out of his car and dumping it into a dumpster. A person going through the trash found the beheaded torso of Haskell's wife. Haskell's father was an executive vice president at the William Morris Agency in the late 90s and repned clients like George Clooney and Whoopi Goldberg.
