Welcome to another episode of the Wayne in podcast.

Ladies and gentlemen, we're going to be joined later by a special guest. He's running a little bit behind, but obviously you guys all know. It's going to be Benson Henderson. But man, there's so many great stories that I have to talk about with him. And like, we didn't really have a whole lot of, like, we didn't really have a relationship up until the moment we fought. Then we are beating into it we actually had like an eight week kind of um like PR tour that we were traveling

around Chicago and all the in Vegas I think is where we were to uh we hit a bunch of locations um

to help up the fight about eight weeks out and eight to ten weeks out and um we actually became

friends it was kind of funny because there was other fighters that have had done tours with each other

and the ufc guys that the PR group was telling us like yeah they can't be in the same car we

we got to take one into the to the radio station and when he comes out the other one goes in and they

they felt it was it was it was kind of like relaxing to know that um that like we could ride in the same car

if we wanted and we didn't but we could and uh and then we show up together and like still

everything was cool he's a great guy man i i honestly i can't say enough nice things about him

um said a lot about who he was to after the fight um you know and just it was it was good to be around him and understand like the mentality i think of of somebody like him uh you know obviously a very religious uh person and family is um you know a wonderful wonderful beautiful beautiful family too uh it's got a lot of kids

it's i think dave's trying to catch him but um but look just an overall great person he's got a

great wife his kids are amazing so um look when he jumps on i think it'll probably be about 10 minutes

or so but uh yeah i just finally want to say a bunch of good things about him before before he on because I'm going to bust his balls a little about how I still thought I won that fight and give him a hard time. But overall, I think, look, I think the resume writes, you know, it speaks for itself for him. He is one of those fighters that the former W.C. World Champion became the UFC world champion. I mean, he's he's fought

everyone he possibly could. He was fantastic, man. Like, I mean, he was just one of those guys that I

think a lot of people were, like for myself, even I overlooked. And I, when I was the

Strike Force champ, I was like, look, if those guys in the W.C. were any good, they'd be in the UFC. Because, you know, they'd already had, you know, Kenny Floring at lightweight. They had Joe Daddy Stevenson and they had, who else? They had BJ obviously there. They had a bunch of guys that were there, you know, in that weight class, Sean Shirk, that were the champions. If those guys were any good, they'd be, the UFC would have brought them over already to fight these guys in the U.S. in the UFC versus in the WC. And shortly after they, you know, they decided to merge and join everything, which I think was the biggest, the best thing they could have possibly have done is you know they built up the smaller

weight classes in the wc built a name for themselves and then when they bought strike force and

they are right before they right before they bought strike force they had brought benson and all those

guys over it was just kind of like a merging of the minds and think of all the best fighters it was
