Life is a journey, and the fourth section of the Psalms, known as the Numbers' Psalms, show us the goodness and guidance of God along that journey.

If we want to move forward, we must look up. Let's join Scott Pauli now as we open the Word of God and find direction for the road of life.

As we have made our journey through the Psalms, one thing that has impressed itself upon me is that many of these Psalms have repeated themes.

They sound alike. The emphasis is the same. And yet, on the other hand, each Psalm is very unique.

We've come in our study to psalm 97 today and

psalm 97 continues many of the same themes for example it opens with these words the

lord reigneth don't you love that aren't you glad god's on the throne today well we've just

recently seen the lord seated upon his throne p. Psalm 97 also commands the people and all of the

idols, the false gods, to worship Him, worship the Lord. And in the last couple of Psalms, we have

seen this emphasis on worship. So we're continuing some of the same ideas, and yet Psalm 97, 12 verses long,

is very unique. It hinges really on one key idea that is not fully stated until the very

end of the Psalm. For years I've said that when you study a portion of scripture,

typically there is a key that

unlocks that passage, some central truth that unlocks the understanding of everything else

in the passage.

And oftentimes the key is found near the front door or near the back door.

So when I first start looking at a portion of scripture or studying a Psalm, I look to see

how does it begin and how does it close. In Psalm 97, I believe the key to the Psalm is found near

the back door. The last verse says this, rejoice in the Lord, you righteous, and give thanks

at the remembrance of His holiness.

There it is.

Those two words, His holiness.
