So as you know, since the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June of 2022, eliminating federal

abortion rights, Texas has been one of a dozen or so states enforcing a complete and total ban.

It is now illegal to aid or abet

terminations of pregnancies in Texas.

Their abortion laws mean that women have to continue pregnancy

despite fetal anomalies.

Women have to carry unviable pregnancies

due to their state's laws and there's lawsuits about that right now. It's

exploding everywhere. Another case has a Texas man who's filed a wrongful death lawsuit accusing three women of helping his ex wife obtain abortion pills.

One of the first major legal challenges under the state abortion ban.

Then there's Texas State Representative Steve Toth who recently introduced a bill

targeting the most viable form of safe and effective abortion access again medication

abortion and let's also talk about the right-wing group that went judge shopping until they found an anti-abortion activist Donald Trump turned into a judge in Amarillo,

who will now be trying to impose a nationwide ban on the key drug used for medication abortion.

It's scary for women's rights in Texas and our next guest is a hero on the front lines of

these and many other battles in this beautiful state. Jessica Gonzales is currently serving her third term

as state representative for House District 104. She serves as a member of the House

Committee on Business and Industry. She's a member of the House Committee on Urban Affairs,

Vice Chair of the Texas House LGBTQ Caucus,

and chair of the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators Human and Civil Rights Task Force.
