So today we are going to be discussing a movie that is not only arguably the best rom-com of all time, but also a real holiday slash New Year's movie.

We are, of course, talking about when Harry met Sally and we will be doing this without a guess because we have too much to say this movie is very close to both of our yes.

Although I never really thought of it as a holiday movie or a New Year's movie.

But then when we re-watched it for this, I was like, oh, like all the it's like the climactic moment is New Year's Eve.

And that's like a very important component of their love story.

Yeah, I think it definitely counts as a holiday movie because a lot of those big moments do tend to happen in the holiday season.

It's sort of similar to you got mail in that way where like Nora uses the passage of the seasons and the holidays as like markers of time.

And it is effective.

So let's get into the background of when Harry met Sally. It came out in 1989 one year after me. So I was I was too good a good time for me.

It was directed by Rob Reiner and written by Nora Efron and its stars, of course, Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal with Carrie Fisher and Bruno Kirby in large supporting roles as their best friends.

It's really almost a four person movie and yeah, primarily a two person movie, which is one of the beautiful parts of it, I think.

Yeah.

And the film was inspired by Rob Reiner's return to dating after divorce. He kind of had the idea for this movie when he had been out of his marriage with Penny Marshall, who is another great director.
