Evolution doesn't happen in enormous leaps.

It happens one mutation at a time.

And so when someone tells you that birds are descended from dinosaurs,

or more accurately that they are dinosaurs,

the dinosaurs that survived the Cretaceous Paleogene extinction event?

It seems totally crazy. It is as crazy as if someone told you that turtles are descended from guinea pigs.

What would the steps in between quote unquote normal dinosaurs and birds even look like.

What does that halfway point look like?

What do all of those one mutation at a time waypoints look like?

This is what people have a hard time imagining. The steps between A and B are

unimaginable, and so their relationship seems unfathomable. Today's animal will help you imagine.
