The Phillies did not celebrate or acknowledge an anniversary this past week, which was the 10-year anniversary of the white towel game,

the white flag game, whatever you call it, we can all see the image in our heads of former

Phillies pitching coach Bob McClure, waving a white towel to get the bullpen's attention

because the phone was off the hook in what looked like the purest form of surrender I have

ever seen on a baseball diamond,

because the Phillies were getting crushed by the Orioles and wound up losing 19 to 3.

The Orioles scored 12 runs in the first three innings that night on June 16, 2015.

They out hit the Phillies 17 to 6 and generally reminded the truly sick

people in the stands that Ryan Sandberg's Phillies of 2015 were just not there yet.

Our friend from the Good Fight, writer Joe Eddinger, had a piece up this week commemorating

that milestone of sad Phillies lore, and we now welcome here to talk about it.

Joe, thanks for joining us on Hitton season. Thanks for having me. First, before we dive into that topic,

I do want to talk a little bit about the Mets where the Phillies are going to face this weekend.

The Phillies are playing a bit better of late than the NL East's first place team, But what a time for these two to play each other in South Philly this weekend with first

place being on the line.

According to the media, the Mets having lost four games in a row, four Joe, four entire

baseball games, including a real heartbreaker to the Braves on Tuesday night, has them in, quote,

the worst state they've been all year.
