Just to start things off, a little self-promotion, I found out today the Society for American Baseball Research nominations for work has been announced today, and I am among them, it turns out.

Really?

Which I did not submit anything, so this was a complete surprise.

But for the category of historical baseball analysis and commentary,

I have a piece on baseball prospectus entitled,

Every Streak is a Part of History.

It was based on when Jose Miranda of the Twins went 12 for 12,

entering history as a player who had a streak

where he had a base hit in 12 straight at bats.

And I used that as the jumping off point to talk about a player who had the opposite happened,

who started his career and went several seasons before he was able to log his first major

league hit.
