Hello everyone welcome back to the history hit warfare podcast I'm your host James Rogers and in this

episode we're looking at a forgotten marginalized aspect of the Holocaust North Africa

especially Libya Egypt even, even Algeria,

well they're not really on the mental map where most people think of the Holocaust,

neither is Tunis or Baghdad, yet these were places where the Holocaust was perpetrated during the Second World War.

As the brilliant journalist and author Gersh and Gersh and Gorenburg explains in this podcast,

this history may well have been forgotten because the number of Jewish victims was somewhat small

But if it wasn't for the British victory in North Africa the plans and preparations that the Nazis had put forward would have led to mass murder across the region.

Indeed he calls it a near miraculous British victory and places like El Alameen mark the borders of the Holocaust because it was here that the British-led forces

were able to turn back the tide of the Nazi war machine. Nevertheless we

shouldn't forget these histories as Gershroom, to forget it, erases the perpetrators, their crimes,

and the greater crimes they planned.
