Hi and welcome to the high speed stuff podcast. I'm Scott Benjamin, the auto editoria here at

how stuff works.com. And I'm a Ben Bowlin. I'm a video writer here. I forgot for a second, Scott, at the same website. I forgot. Well, I forgot my name. Oh, the name part. That was the easy part. I know. I'm caught up, though. I saw it on an index card. So good thing we're taking notes. Pretty slick. What's going on today, Scott? Well, I think we're going to, we're going to go back in time a little bit. I'm going to go back to

some antique engines. We want to talk about some different types of engines more so than, you know,

the current engines that we see today in cars, you know, like we're talking a lot about hybrids.

We're talking a lot of plug-in electric vehicles. We're talking about a lot of different technology,

but let's go back

in time, and we'll talk about some of the, well, I guess antique technology that goes into engines.

So antique, but not ancient, so how far back are we going? Not ancient. We're going to go back

turn of the century, I guess, you know, late 1800s, early 1900s. And you probably have seen or at least know of the engines that we're talking about today.

These are called hit and miss engines.
