I'm going to give you a history lesson.

One of my favorite things to do every year when I talk with our Students for Life fellows,

our Wilberforce fellows, or college fellows, our high school Stevens fellows,

is give kind of a brief primer of the history of the pro-life movement.

And over the years, I found that this is

one of my most requested kind of speeches to pro-life students. Pro-life student leaders find

this fascinating, as did I, which is why I kind of wrote this presentation for our students.

I actually wrote this presentation using a little bit of political and legal history

and then also having conversations. I had a dear friend who served in the Ronald Reagan

administration has kind of been serving in the pro-life movement ever since. So she firsthand

witnessed a lot of the events that I speak about. So I want to start by talking about why do we care

about history. I mean, I was a history minor in college. My husband was a history major. My kids

are taught a lot of history. In fact, we just went to Washington, D.C. this summer for

students for Life's All Team Week, and my kids were on history overload because we kept taking

them to the battlefields, to the monuments, to the archives. They Students for Life's All Team Week and my kids were on history overload because we kept taking them

about history? Why is history so important? Well, you know, that old adage of those who don't
