Hi everyone. Welcome back to our series on the most important battles in the Civil War.

We were looking at battle number eight, which we started last episode,

looking at the battle of Chikamaga, but Chikamaga and Chattanooga really are grouped together.

And this is number eight on our list because after Chikamaga, which is a Confederate victory,

that's not really the end of it because Union forces retreat in a Chattanooga,

where the battle is going to conclude. So let's pick up from there. James, what's happening?

Well, Rose Cran is still smarting from being completely defeated by the Confederates at Chikamaga.

It was a total union defeat. There was there's just no redeeming feature. There's nothing you could say.

You can't, there's no, shall we say, still relying on this cloud. It was just all bad.
