Welcome to the Mark series part 38. We're going to be in Mark chapter 10

versus 32 through 34 and like I sometimes do. Let me give you guys a quick rundown

on everything we're about to do. So we're doing a verse by verse study through the

Gospel of Mark, but I like to talk about apologetics when the topic comes up,

theology and pastoral type encouragement, living the Christian life, and we're kind of

going to do things in

that order in this section of Mark where Jesus predicts his own death and

resurrection so the apologetics issue we're going to cover today is this a

historical case a historical case, a historical case, or an historical case, however you want to say it,

I think both ways are fine, that Jesus really did predict his own death and resurrection.

That's the argument I'm going to make.

And I'm going to offer real historical, you know, arguments for that.

And then we're going to, number two, after a big section on apologetics, we're going to get two after a big section on apologetics we're going to get into some deep

theological insights that we should gather as we look at Jesus's words about his death and

resurrection and we'll deal with some of the modern progressivism, Christian progressivism, because sometimes

they abandon important Christian truths in their attempt to reinvent Jesus.

And we'll talk about some of that and get some theological insights.

Then I'm going to give you some pastoral encouragement about our attitude

towards our own suffering that I think is appropriate not just because of

whatever's going on today in your life but because of life this kind of stuff is going to confront us all the time. We need to have a biblical mentality

towards the pain and the suffering we experience. We desperately need that

especially because once we get into the hard times, if we aren't prepared, we find that we're less equipped to deal with the very hard stuff of life.
