opportunity to chat with Dr. Mary Fiselle. She is a professor in the Department of the History of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University,

and she has been cited as an expert across multiple outlets in New York Times, Washington Post,

Slate, Vice. She's also appeared on the BBC, and she wrote a previous book about the history of kind of how we understand fertility.

But her new book is called Pushback, the 2,500-year fight to thwart women by restricting abortion.

So without any further ado, here she is Dr. Mary Fiselle. Well, Mary,

thank you so much for joining me today. Thank you for having me, Kara. It's a pleasure to be here.

I'm really excited to talk about your new book, Pushback, the 2,500-year fight to thwart women by restricting abortion. So you are a historian

of science and medicine. Is that correct? Would you use that title? Yes. Sometimes I say I'm a

historian of health and healing, sort of a more broad, but yes, exactly. And so at Johns Hopkins, they have their own

department dedicated to the history of medicine? Yes, because that's kind of how the history
