Wall Street is spooked by President Donald Trump's historic tariff announcement, which

threatens to throw the U.S. and the rest of the world into a recession.

Yesterday, Trump announced 10% tariff on all imports into the U.S., and shows even higher

rates on dozens of countries that have the highest trade deficits with the U.S., and shows even higher rates on dozens of countries that have the highest

trade deficits with the U.S. All three major indexes plunged in morning trading, and global

markets also fell sharply.

The U.S. dollar fell to its weakest level since October, and part of the reason is the

fear that Trump's new policy could trigger significant backlash from trading partners,

but that fear may be becoming reality. Auto tariffs went into effect at midnight. Stalantis says it's

quote, paused production at some of its Canadian and Mexican auto assembly plants due to the tariffs.

And as a result, about 900 workers at five different plants in the Midwest will be laid off.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney says his country is retaliating with 25% tariffs on some American cars.

The White House has fired at least three National Security Council staffers.

That's according to three sources familiar with the move, with one source saying the

firings are a direct result of Trump's meeting yesterday with far-right activist Laura Lumer,

who once claimed 9-11 was an inside job.
