Psalm chapter 119 verse 72 the law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of

gold and silver pieces. So a couple of episodes ago we

prayed according to verse 11. I've stored your word in my heart that I might not

send against you and encourage you to make a plan for intentionally

memorizing scripture.

And one of the things I most often hear people say in response to that is, well I just don't memorize very well.

The illustration I always use in that kind of conversation is imagine that over the next 24 hours I were to give you a thousand dollars for

every verse you could memorize. I'm guessing you would learn to memorize with rare exceptions and I realize there are some

exceptions but most people if they were offered a thousand dollars for every verse they could memorize.

He could memorize some.

Jesus wept, John 1135, just like that, a thousand.

And then keep moving on.

Like you would memorize.

So I guess the question is not whether or not you can memorize.

The question is, what's more important to you?

What's more valuable to you? What's more valuable to you? God's word or money?

This is where Psalm 119 verse 72 comes in. The law of your mouth is better to me

than thousands of gold and silver pieces.

Like if we believe that, then of course we'll treasure God's word and our hearts

will hide it there because it's more valuable than money.

So when you hear encouragement to memorize God's word, think, okay, I can memorize a verse over the next day that would be so much better than a
