Summary

In 2001, just months after losing her beloved stepfather Pablo to pancreatic cancer, a listener’s family gathered for Christmas in the home he helped build—a home that still carried his warmth, laughter, and now… his presence. When a guest encountered a mustached man asking for a cigarette, who then vanished near the bar Pablo had lovingly built, it sent chills through everyone. But when that same man was identified by photograph as Pablo himself, grief turned into awe. Later, his face appeared in a window behind family photos. Could Pablo still be protecting the ones he loved? Or had the celebration simply called him home for one last Christmas?

0:04.3	I wanted to tell you a story that happened to me and my family back in 2001.
0:12.7	My mother divorced my father when I was 10 and remarried to my stepfather.
0:31.6	My stepfather, Pablo, had cancer, pancreatic cancer, and he passed away September 14, 2001, right before Christmas.
0:34.6	He battled cancer for about a year and a half and was very strong until the very end.
0:43.9	Christmas was always a big event in my mother's house.
0:48.2	We always got together, his family, my mom's side of the family, and we just had a huge, huge party.
0:57.0	So obviously Christmas that year was going to be a little bit different, but his family still came over, and so then my mom's side of the family.
1:10.0	And my brother, my brother's ex-wife,
1:15.6	had a sister who was dating some guy and the guy ended up coming over and was outside and he was walking in to the driveway of my mom's house.
1:32.2	And he noticed that there was a guy in the front yard of my mom's house.
1:40.0	He was wearing a jacket and he had a mustache.
1:45.0	This man told this other guy, hey, do you have a cigarette?
1:53.0	And this one guy was like, well, no, I don't know, I have some cigarettes, but, you know, it's in my, it's in the house.
2:02.7	So the guy was like, well, why don't we go inside the, we had a bar area in my mother's house.
2:09.7	And that's something that my stepfather built when he was alive.
2:14.0	He, like I said, he loved throwing parties.
2:17.3	So he built an actual patio and it had a bar area.
2:20.3	And so this mysterious man said, let's go smoke inside the bar area. And so the other guy figured, okay, well, he knows this family because he knows that there's a bar area and he knows kind of like, I guess, the layout of the patio.
2:39.0	And so this guy ends up going in first and the mysterious man was walking behind him.
2:46.4	And so once the guy crossed over to the patio, he turned around and he looked and the mysterious
2:54.0	man that asked him for a cigarette was gone.
