U.S. military sources believe Iran is responsible for the

downing of a Ukrainian passenger jet which crashed in Iran earlier this week.

The New York Times cites unnamed U.S. intelligence sources, which say they have a high level of

confidence that Iran accidentally shot down the Ukraine International Airlines jet just minutes after takeoff.

All 176 people on board were killed.

The crash occurred during the height of recent tensions between Iran and the U.S.

Just hours after Iran had launched missiles on an Iraqi air base housing U.S. service members.

It also raised questions as to why the airspace around Tehran

was left open to airliners in the midst of hostile tensions.

The House is set to vote Thursday on a resolution that would curb Trump's power in using military action

against Iran without congressional approval.

CNN reports that Democratic Congresswoman Elisa Slotkin of Michigan, a former CIA analyst and senior military official is the sponsor of the resolution.

The measure would require the President to terminate the use of the United States Armed Forces

to engage in hostilities in or against Iran unless Congress declares
