What's up, guys? It has been a long week for me. And I wanted to record this podcast

0:09.0

because I did have something that was top of mind that happened this week, and I wanted to get it

0:13.2

while it was fresh. And that thing that happened was a conversation I had with one of my

0:17.9

portfolio CEOs. So this particular CEO has a person on their team who,

0:24.3

you know, was recruited for leadership and it's just not working out. You know, that person is not a

0:30.4

fit because they just don't align with the values. You know, and I think the most obvious

0:35.9

misalignment of values is when the person you hire doesn't align with your values.

0:42.0

You know, they don't align with who you are as the founder.

0:45.6

And the two of you just don't mix.

0:47.4

1:00.6

that this executive that we brought in is just not the right fit. And when we talked about, okay,

1:05.5

we're going to have to replace this person and fill them with somebody who is the right fit,

1:09.2

I had a recommendation. And it's a recommendation that I talk about a lot with portfolio CEOs as well as my team, as well as

1:16.0

people that I'm just giving advice to, which is, you know, some of the best hires I've ever made

1:22.5

were what I call rising stars. So I'll give you a little story so that you can understand what I mean by

1:28.7

rising star. You know, a few years ago when we started acquisition.com, I wanted to make sure that I

1:34.1

built essentially from the top down, meaning I basically hire all the leaders and then they build

1:39.3

out their teams. And the reason I didn't do that before was because when I was starting my first company,
