Sadism, it is a word we've all heard, but few of us know its true origin. It comes from the

notorious Marquis de Sot, an 18th century French nobleman whose incendiary writings not only indulged

in but celebrated extreme violence and sexual cruelty.

He wrote about acts so depraved, so hideous, that his name itself became synonymous with

deriving pleasure from the pain of others.

The Marquisadee's fantasies were meant to be shocking,

written as a rejection of societal norms.

But for the Hillside Stranglers, Kenneth Bianchi and Angela Buono, sadism was not just a literary pursuit,
