We've all seen the horror movies that start out with a family getting a great deal on

a house because it was haunted or a tragedy had occurred within its walls.

It's exactly how the lutses were able to buy what they thought was their dream home

in Amityville, New York in the 1970s.

The kills had a similar experience 40 years earlier in Sussex England.

The previous owner of Ashmanner was so eager to sell that he let Mr. Kill buy it for far

less than what it was worth.

Mr. Kill felt that the exceptional deal on the house was the result of more earthly issues,

such as a leaky roof or possibly bad plumbing.

After all, he did not believe in ghosts.

Ashmanner is a grand stately house built in the 13th century.

Over the many years since its construction, some parts of the structure have been destroyed

and rebuilt.

Surrounded by a plush green countryside, Ashmanner doesn't look like your stereotypical

haunted house.

But its history tells a different story.

Fire, bloodshed and many other unhappy events have taken place at Ashmanner.

The kills felt the wrath of the spirit soon after moving in on June 24th, 1934.

They were awakened several times in the middle of the night by what sounded like someone

stomping their feet and knocking on the walls.

Mr. Kill would search the house, but the end result was always the same.

No explanation of where the sounds were coming from.
