According to Wikipedia, CryptoZoology is a pseudoscience and subculture that aims to

prove the existence of entities from the folklore record. CryptoZoology's refer to these entities

as cryptids, a term that was coined by the subculture. You are obviously aware of some of the most

famous cryptids. Some are more of a species such as Bigfoot, Yeti, or the Chupacabra.

Other cryptids are more of an individual, such as the Mothman, the Jersey Devil, or the Locness

Monster. The Locness Monster is no doubt the most famous cryptid in all of Great Britain,

but it is definitely not the only one. In 1988, the Royal Marines were sent into hunt down the

mysterious large cat known as the Beast of X-Mor. And then there's the Pigman of Canek Chase.

There are many places on this earth that seem to attract the peculiar and unexplained,

the Bermuda Triangle, the Bridgewater Triangle, and Chestnut Ridge immediately come to mind.

Canek Chase, known by the locals of Staffordshire, England, has just the chase, is one of these locations.

The area has been designated as the Canek Chase area of outstanding natural beauty in 1958

because of its beauty, wildlife, and history. Today the area consists of 26 square miles of

Heathland, Pine and Birch Woodland, Historic Parkland, Farmland, attractive villages, and remnants of

an ancient oak woodland. But the beauty is not the first thing that locals think of when the chase

is mentioned. It's the other history that comes to mind. The area gained notoriety in the late

1960s when the Canek Chase murders made national headlines. The remains of three young girls were

found on the chase after going missing from areas along the A-34 road between there and Birmingham.

Raymond Leslie Morris, a motor engineer from Walsall, was found guilty of one of the murders in 1968
