I think one of the most

beautiful places I've ever visited hiking is Ludd's Church, which is located in the Peak District

in the United Kingdom where I live. And it is a truly beautiful and unique place, as there are many in the Peak District area,

but this place in particular is quite special.

And I wouldn't say that the surrounding walk and hike is particularly interesting itself, but in some ways that almost elevates the incredible awe-inspiring event that is coming upon Ludd's Church in the middle of your hike.

Now, I believe Ludd's Church is called so because during the 15th century there was a collection

of people called the Lollards and they were a proto-prosticent gathering of people. Led would worship in this place as a secret hiding place

away from the ruling Christian establishment of the time.

And you could see very well how they might have hidden away there, and how people might

pass to the area several times without ever realising that it was there.

Now, Ludd's Church, if I can attempt to describe it to you,

is a huge chasm in the side of this rocky hillside.

And as you approach it, you are walking along the edge of sort of a path that is on the slope of a valley.

And this path itself is beautiful. It is a lovely sort of woodland trail, but suddenly if you

just curve your way upwards, just a little way up the hill towards a small rocky crevice, you'll soon find that if you creep your way through the rocks

and begin to move through a small opening between two large rocks that lean up against each other, almost in an arched

fashion. You will then be able to calm down into this chasm, and the sight upon entering is,

as I say, hugely awe-inspiring.
