We've never been closer to peace than at this moment. That's at least the message from the White House,

the head of a highly anticipated talk between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The two leaders have a call scheduled this morning about ending Russia's

invasion of Ukraine, at least temporarily. Trump says a lot of work has already been done ahead of time

that his team has spoken with both Ukraine and Russia about dividing up assets like land and power

plans. Remember, Ukraine already agreed to a 30-day ceasefire the U.S. proposed,

but Russia has a long list of conditions it once met first, like it wants Ukraine to recognize

occupied territories as part of Russia. And Ukraine says that and some of Russia's other demands

are red lines that cannot be crossed. Still, Trump is saying he's confident a deal is within reach.

Meanwhile, Western allies other than the U.S., like the U.K., Canada, Australia, and most of the

European Union, have been considering sending tens of thousands of peacekeeping troops into Ukraine.

They're set to meet later this week to talk details.
