I think it's really important to write queer history and to write us back into history because

like we know we've always been here, but often we're hiding.

Um, and it was incredibly meaningful to talk to my elders essentially.

And of course, not all of the women were gay.

And it was important to write about what the league meant to those straight women, too, and what they learned by being

on a team with openly gay women at a time when it was not acceptable to be openly gay.

So you both are two sports writing superheroes.

How did you meet, how did you come together to do this project?

We met actually in a Facebook group for sports writers of marginalized genders, I guess you could say.

And we became friends.
