This is called My Friend Butchie remembered.

My belief in the afterlife is stronger after an episode that happened to me more than 30 years ago.

In 1968, I worked at the Miami Herald alongside an elderly lady, Butchie, who became a good friend of mine.

We used to discuss religion and afterlife experiences, and we both said that if one of us died, we would try to contact the

other. In 1970, I married and moved away and we lost touch. On the night of December 20th,

1971, we received a call from Butchie's husband, Charles. He told us that Butchie had died of

cancer that afternoon, and he was trying to let everyone know. I was upset. I never got to say

goodbye to her. I hadn't spoken to her since I moved away. That evening, I went to bed as usual
