Today on the show is Kent Whitaker, and Kent and his former wife Tricia

went to church with us when we lived in Sugar Land, Texas years and years and years ago. In fact, Aaron was the youth pastor there. in very tragic event on December 10th in 2003 where him and his family came home and

there was an intruder in their house and all four of them were shot and his wife

and one of his sons died on the scene that night.

And so Kent sits down and he tells that story,

obviously in more depth.

But I want to let you know if you've got little ears in the car

that this might be a hard conversation for them to hear.

But more importantly, what we talk about today a lot is

forgiveness. And how did Kent walk through that journey of forgiving the person who had done this

to his family? He lost two family members that night. Kent struggled with, God, where are you in this?

Why is this happening?

And so it's a really great conversation

just to hear his heart about how God pushed him towards forgiveness and how he leaned into that.

Kent is now remarried to his wife Tanya and they spend a lot of their time talking about

forgiveness and really sharing parts of their story and I hope that as we even lean into this Christmas season, you know, what are we like a week and a half away from Christmas and what do we celebrate Christmas for it?
