Summary

The holidays can be a tough time for people, but what we can find in today’s story is that God is faithful no matter what you are going through. God is faithful to His Word, He keeps his promises, and when we act in faith, we can know that He will always respond. Today my guest is Pastor Bryan Carter, senior pastor at Concord Church in Dallas. We are continuing our Characters of Christmas series, and today we are talking about the Shepherds. I ask Pastor Bryan why it’s important that the Shepherds were the first to hear about Jesus, and how their character points us back to Jesus.

0:00.0	Luke chapter 2 8 through 20 verse 8, and there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby,
0:07.2	keeping watch over their flocks at night.
0:09.9	And any of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and
0:14.4	they were terrified.
0:16.3	But the angels said to them, do not be afraid.
0:18.8	I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.
0:23.2	Today, in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you.
0:27.0	He is the Messiah of the Lord, and this will be a sign to you.
0:31.0	You will find a baby wrapped in clothes and lying in a manger.
0:35.0	Suddenly, a great company of the heavenly hopes appeared with the angel praising God and
0:40.5	saying, glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth, peace to those on whom His favor
0:46.6	rest.
0:47.7	When the angels had left them and gone into the heaven, the shepherd said to one another,
0:52.3	let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told

0:59.4	So they heard off and found Mary and Joseph and the baby who were lying in the manger,
1:05.7	and when they had seen Him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them
1:10.3	about the child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherd said to them.
1:16.8	But Mary treasured all these things and ponder them in her heart.
1:22.6	The shepherd's returned, glorified in praising God for all the things they had heard and
1:28.4	seen, which were just as they had been told.
