Summary

In this fifth BonusCast from History Goes Bump, you will hear a bit about the phenomenon that is the podcast Lore, which is currently taking iTunes by storm, and you will also hear a clip from Diane's co-hosting adventure on The 9th Story Podcast - you know the clip where the haunted music box makes an appearance or rather doesn't, but Diane and Dan are freaked, so something happened! Also, there are some more outtakes from the show, particularly featuring Denise's non-existent giggling - uh huh - and our guest co-host Freya even makes it into the outtakes with both some tongue tied issues and a little behind the scenes peek - or listen - to the pre-show talk. Enjoy!

0:36.5

We've got a few wonderful things for you this evening few outtakes one including an outtake from the Ninth Story Podcast.

0:44.5

Hope you guys enjoy this.

0:46.5

And before we get into playing some of those outtakes,

0:49.1

I just wanted to talk a little bit with you guys, kind of take down that fourth wall that you're not

0:54.2

supposed to do whenever you're on television or radio or now the internet and I

0:58.8

had one of our listeners suggest that I should listen to the show LORE. Now a lot of you who are

1:04.6

big-time podcast listeners like I am are always searching for new material and I

1:08.9

hadn't discovered LORE yet but I have now and it apparently everybody else on the planet has too. I just want to talk to you guys a little bit about podcasting and one of the things that gets kind of frustrating when you're a podcaster is you'll go in and look at the rankings and not that it matters a whole lot but

1:24.3

you'll see NPR's up there all the time and all these celebrities now have jumped

1:29.2

into podcasting because they've discovered that this is where it's at.

1:33.0

A lot of us have been doing internet radio for years

1:36.0

and are going, where have you guys been all these years?

1:39.0

And now they're jumping in, you know, Stephen Colbert's up at the top right now,

1:42.0

and Chakeel O'Neill just jumped in.

1:45.0

Dave Ramsey's getting his own show ramped up as well and it just goes down the line all these different people getting in and they're always at the very top of everything.

1:53.0

And then there's other shows that aren't necessarily NPR or Celebrity, but they're highly produced.

1:58.0

A lot of you guys probably checked out cereal. This is what got podcasting really going out there and had people

2:05.7

starting to tune into podcasting. So as podcasters we really appreciate serial

2:10.1

because it got people interested in what we're doing but on the other hand you have a

2:13.6

really highly produced show and it's hard to compete with that especially when you're

2:18.5

little guys like Denise and I are and you're working on a shoestring. Well the thing I love about
