And we're here in the astronaut crew quarters at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

And this is a pretty interesting room.

This is a room called the suit up room.

And this room has special memories for me as it's the same room where I

suited up to go to space. It's the same place where the Apollo astronauts suited up to

go to the moon. And people might not realize that there was a lot of hand

crafting that went into these suits that we wear to space and this program is

paying tribute to the women whose sewing plays an important role in the space

industry from the Apollo moon landings to the present day.

Yes, I watched the moonwalk.

The fact that he had on a suit that I helped to make, I actually had my hands on what he was wearing.

Here inside the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex opposite NASA,

there are all sorts of exhibits, including the space suit worn by Alan Shepard during a spacewalk on the lunar surface for the Apollo 14 mission.

This suit was handmade by a company best known at the time for making girdles and bras, the International Latex Corp, now known

as ILC Dover Corporation.

At ILC Dover's headquarters in Delaware, a demonstration of one of its international space

station spacesuits is underway. ILC has been supplying NASA with spacesuits for over 50 years.
