I'm your host, Jack Spencer, and with us today, we have Mr. Wild and Wonderful himself. Mark Ginny. Mark, how are you today, sir? It's me. I'm so glad to be back, Jack. Mark, from West Virginia. Now, Mark, I have a West Virginia story for you today. You know, Jack Haggard's our normal producer. So I thought this story might have been

something that he mightn't have experienced before, but as a West Virginia guy, I'm sure you have.

I, now you can't ask how, I can just tell you that I got my hands on what's called a gray market

tractor a couple of weeks ago. Now, what's a gray market tractor? It turns out in the mid-70s,

there was something going on with tractor economics, and they started importing a bunch of these

tractors from Japan that didn't quite meet American safety environmental standards.

And they weren't illegal. Well, they were illegal per se, but they were know, they were allowed. They were allowed around. And I got my hands on one of these mid-1970s gray market tractors. The YM 2000. Now, I got this tractor, Mark. First, Mark, I got to ask you. Have you ever come across the gray market tractor? I'm sure there are plenty of them roaming around the hills of West Virginia. Tell you, I was born on a gray market tractor. I'm not surprised. I'm not surprised. That's what I love about you, man. I'll tell you a quick story about it. I got it. It didn't run. It doesn't run. Well, it does run. Now, I can't work on anything.

I got this gray market tractor, and I wanted to get it running. It came with a note that said

that it doesn't have a battery. The way you do it is you jump to cellanoid. Now, I don't

know anything about anything, but I've watched enough internet videos to do that. It doesn't

have an ignition. So you just use a wire or a screwdriver and you connect

the positive thing to this little tab on the selenoid. And all these sparks find it turns over

the engine. It took me four times to figure this all out. I finally get my gray market tractor

started. Here's the punchline of the story. It didn't have an ignition marks. I couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Oh, dear. It literally took. Now to this day. I finally figured it out. But it took me. I'm not exaggerating almost an hour to figure out how to turn this thing off.

I could, it has the clutch. You couldn't pop the clutch because these old tractors, at least this old

tractor, the gears, like when you go into a high gear and relieve the clutch, it just makes the

tractor go fast. It doesn't, you don't have to go like from first to second to third to

fourth the fifth year. And in addition to that, the gears aren't intuitive. So it's not like you go, you know, a normal manual transmission,
