I did Broadway for 17 years.

When you do that, it kind of prepares you for anything in life in a way.

You know, you're at an audition. Can you do this? And you just say yes.

Because you realize you got to learn the spot.

You got to say yes in order to get a job and you just got to learn and teach yourself as you go.

People started referring to me as the male Carol King, which is a high compliment.

But also, I don't want to be compared to other people. Eventually people will be compared to me.

But I don't want to be compared to anything before.

And the multi-talented musician and actor, Steven Van Zant.

When it comes to performing, that's just like a vacation for me.

You know, whether it's acting or whether it's being a rock star on stage, you know,

that stuff is just nothing but fun for me.

The real work is looking at a blank piece of paper and creating something from it, you know.
