music industry. He also co-founded A&M records, which broke artists from the police

to Cat Stevens to the carpenters, Joe Cocker to Janet Jackson to

sound garden. And since he and his partner sold the label a few decades ago, her Belbot has been one of America's greatest music philanthropists.

But of course, he will always be known first and foremost for his band, the Tijuana Brass. The And the And it was everywhere. In the 60s, they sold more albums than the Beatles.
