Summary

When you think about the relationship with your partner who struggles with addiction, have there been times you've questioned yourself about why you've stayed so long? And if so, what keeps pulling you back in even though it's not a healthy situation?

This is something a brave woman in our community shared with me recently that many people will most likely be able to relate to.

Tune in for this new podcast interview to hear how trauma bonds kept this woman from leaving an unhealthy relationship (and whether or not she's still with her partner).

Hey, I hope you're enjoying these interviews.

0:21.9

I just have a couple quick announcements before we get started.

0:25.3

Number one is that these women that are brave, courageous, awesome women that have

0:33.4

volunteered their time to give these interviews to be real with us.

0:38.5

They are working real women. They are usually hiding or in secret to do these interviews

0:48.8

because a lot of them are still living with their loved one who's struggling with addiction.

0:54.1

So we don't use first names and we try to protect their privacy. That's actually our

1:22.6

their garage giving this interview. Some women are giving this interview really early in the

1:29.4

morning while making breakfast for their young kids. One woman was, you know, pulled over on the

1:36.3

side of the road in complete privacy. So I am so grateful that you are willing to be kind and

1:44.7

nice about the quality of recording and that we're keeping it real here because we want to give you

1:54.2

truthful, honest, unedited stories. So secondly, in today's episode, there is a lot,

2:04.7

speaking of real, and in my office and just got a reminder, sorry about that.

2:09.6

But okay, the second thing is today's episode might be difficult to hear. We do mention

2:19.6

some violence and we do mention guns. So I adore this interview but it might be hard. So I'm just

2:30.1

throwing that out there for you. And then thirdly, I just want to say from the bottom of my deepest

2:38.2

heart, to say thank you so much for leaving all of these positive reviews. I don't normally ask for

2:44.7

them, but I read them every one of them. And they encourage me to keep going. So I like to keep
