enjoy it as much as we did. I was thinking about the question that Skip really opens us to think about,

which is, you know, when Africans come to the new world and replicate institutions from which they

were excluded, you know, how do we understand that replication? Because it sounds like

on the one hand, it was mirroring, but on the other hand, it was dramatically revising those very

institutions. Absolutely. And so it's figuring out how to not, not overemphasize the total creation

of brand new, unrecognizable institutions.

But on the other hand, not saying this is just placating white supremacist organizations and

reproducing them, but in fact, transforming them in the ways that were absolutely essential.
