On May 8, 1945, President Harry Truman announced the end of World War II in Europe.

This is a solemn but glorious hour. I wish that Franklin D. Roosevelt had lived to see this day.

Around the world, streets flooded with celebrations and many soldiers were able to return home to their loved ones.

To honor the anniversary of VE Day, President Trump visited the World War II Memorial

to pay his respect to those who, as the White House described, chose nation over self.

My next guest, Henry Langraire, is one of the last living World War II paratroopers.

While serving in Europe, he was captured by the Nazis, but eventually he and his friend

made a desperate escape. He is the recipient of two bronze stars, two Purple Hearts, and a French

Legion of Honor. Joining me now to share his untold story, a member of the 82nd Airborne

Division, Henry Langraire and Jim DeFalise. They are co-authors of the book, Whatever It Took,

an American paratrooper's extraordinary memoir of escape, survival, and heroism in the last days

of World War II. Henry, welcome. It's great to have you with us right now,

and obviously this is a huge anniversary. What goes through your mind on this 75th anniversary,

having paratroop jumped into France on D-Day? Well, there's a lot of things that run through my mind that I remember.
