it's my subconscious trying to protect me, but it still has a way of undermining all the good

Sometimes it's our subconscious, maybe, trying to protect us, but sometimes it's just anxiety,

And anxiety really likes to get hold of something to worry about and we're very vulnerable to worrying about our health and our feelings, you know, as soon as we have a lump or a bump or an unusual symptom in our body then we kick off and we get

concerned about it and anxiety will feed on that nervous energy that's increasing
