stuff went down in New Zealand. Ironically enough, the evening before the

attack, I was watching something about New Zealand. Actually I was watching

something about the people that are deported back to Tonga, their Marquesa

islands. I suppose Samoa. Excuse me. And how New Zealand was one of the

places where people were deported from back to Tonga. And then

the documentary took a bit of a turn and began to talk about New Zealand

itself. And the very contentious relationship and war that had happened

between the native peoples who retreated farther and farther into the jungle

and the colonizers. So for many reasons, when I learned about the attack a few

hours later, my head was just spinning. Excuse me, it seemed so ironic that a

population that had openly and viciously and violently attacked a native

population upon arriving in a completely unknown land had once again turned

its bloody eyes towards an innocent population. Now that's a pretty charged

way to put it, an innocent population. And that's where I want to go with this

because I'm tired of us pretending that history doesn't exist. So let's quickly

go through it. Why are Muslims an innocent population? Why stress what's going

on in Gaza? Why not just forget about what's going on in Syria or in Yemen or

still going on in Iraq or perhaps it would be better to forget about those

tens and thousands of people killed at the Pakistani border by drones just

last year? Why is it important to talk about that population as an Ummah, as one

people perhaps? Why is it important to talk about that group of people as an
