Summary

Behind all of these various claims from this progressive Christian is the idea that you can reinvent Christianity however you like with no accountability to a consistent view of Scripture or Jesus. In today's case there seems to be a very odd reference (seemingly out of context or just made up) to a former pope in the place of quoting scripture. 0:00 intro 0:18 to SKIP intro This clip is from a recent interview I did on Alisa Childers' channel. I took that interview and broke it down into topical videos dealing with the 23 different claims made by the "progressive Christian" Ragamuffin TV. You'll see a new video EVERY DAY until the whole series is uploaded. Here's a link where you can see EVERY video in this series (as they go up) https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZ3iRMLYFlHstu7p_vncGknpVhWp9uxc1 Here are the links to the long form interviews which are on Alisa's channel Part 1 https://youtu.be/wVLLuyN-Ezo Part 2 https://youtu.be/CoBW3LY8xiw

You're watching one of a series of videos where Elisa Childers and I respond to 23 progressive Christian claims,

0:07.0

kind of like a progressive Christian manifesto that was written by Ragamuffin TV.

0:11.9

We deal with these claims, some good, some bad, some ugly, and I'm

0:16.1

hoping that this helps you to think biblically.

Number eight is a quote from Pope John Paul II, apparently I haven't, I didn't track that down

0:23.7

to be sure that's actually accurate,

0:25.3

but it's stated as a quote.

0:27.8

Number eight is, when will Christians realize

0:30.9

that heaven and hell aren't literal geographic places but states of consciousness.

0:37.0

Yeah, I tried to find this. I was like, did he that that's interesting I mean I'm not Roman

0:44.4

Catholic the truth is you can find quotes from popes throughout history kind of

0:48.8

of agreeing with almost anything you want it gets complicated because in Catholicism most of what a Pope does and

0:55.6

says doesn't carry the authority of the papacy. It doesn't carry that sort of

0:59.1

binding authority that people are thinking of. So it gets complicated, but I can't find this quote.

1:03.8

I don't think he ever said it.

1:05.1

In January 28th in 1999, he did an audience

1:09.0

where he, and it's published, you can read on the Vatican website. But he describes hell as not just a place.

1:17.0

And so he wants us to understand it's more than just a location. It's not just a location.

1:21.7

And so he says that he describes it as quote complete frustration and emptiness of life without God

1:28.0

Whereas the progressive doesn't want to even borrow that from him right they're just this is what they do to the Bible

1:33.4

yeah sorry this is just quote him out of context pretend like he agrees but if you get

1:37.6

like I've got it I've got our way back there on the ground but if you get like
