In his book, Rapture Ready, in the chapters speaking to the phenomenon of Hell Houses,

Daniel Radish writes a wild-esque pithy piece of prose, saying,

The first Hell House was opened in the 1970s by Jerry Falwell, who now knows if he got it right.

Maybe I won't go that far, but I'll give Jerry a Google sometime draw your own conclusions.

The concept of the Hell House is the answer to the two-pronged question,

what is Hell, and how do you get there?

And for many churches, it's also the answer to the much less interesting question.

The idea is taking many forms, whether it be the original Liberty University sponsored

scare mayor in Lynchburg, Virginia, or the plethora of judgment houses across the country.

But the most common version was codified and branded by Denver pastor named Keenan Roberts,

starting in the 90s Roberts made and sold Hell House kits for 300 bucks a pop, which included

a script, a sound effects CD, and a massive 250 plus pages of instructions.

Roberts says, quote,

emphasis on abortion, rape, suicide, and perhaps the most terrifying thing of all to why even,
