So it's unlocked after dark here on IGN. I'm nice. Well, we are actually we are living in a little bit of a bizarre world because we'll just jump right in.

It's it's one week and it's it's a drop in the bucket of the grand scheme of things. But as you've probably gathered from the headline and the thumbnail if you're watching us on video this week.

There was something happened this week that has almost never happened. And I thought we would start there. We do have plenty to talk about not just this, but Xbox is outselling the PlayStation 5 in Japan.

Yes. Just shake out your ear. There's nothing. Nothing clogging it up. You did hear that correctly. Xbox is outselling PS5 in Japan for the past.

A week. So Sony is being hit super hard by supply issues and Xbox not as much. So this comes via Femitsu who says that the Xbox series console family sold just under seven or 67.

And it's 6,695 units during what the last recording period, which is two weeks ago, June 13 to the 19th. And in that same window, PlayStation 5 sold less than half of that, 3,035.

Sony remains far ahead of Xbox in terms of overall Japanese console sales. This marks the second time in this generation that weekly sales have been significantly in Microsoft's favor. So if you're curious as to the split, well, because since there are two Xbox series consoles, both the series S and the series X outsold the PS5 for that week. It was almost.

And then that split between the two of them was almost 50 50, but both of them individually also beat that 3,035 PS5 number. So obviously this has a lot more to do with Sony having a much harder time on the supply side, the next box is having which to be clear, you know, Microsoft deserves a ton of credit for seemingly doing a better job of managing the supply chain issues than Sony's doing.

And just getting more consoles out to customers who want them. But the PS5 still way ahead overall, if you're curious there, the numbers are 1.69 million PS5s thus far versus 232,000 Xbox series consoles.

And then just to set the ultimate level of context for this to round out the full story, the Nintendo Switch, albeit with a three year head start on the two next gen consoles, the switch has 24.7 million versus 1.6 my 9 million PS5s and 232,000 series consoles.

Miranda, your reaction first to just, you know, again, we have the context. We know it's a, it's just one little window here, but it's still it is still notable for Xbox anyway.

Yeah, it's a nice little, oh cool, you know, Xbox is getting a little time in the spotlight. The reason I say like this is because I remember when I went to Japan several times for TGS and doing stuff for work.
