Hey everybody, welcome to another episode of heist. My name is Simon, and unfortunately today, Matt and B.J. aren't here. They're on vacation, getting a much needed vacation. Matt's out in Europe right now, and I don't even know where BJ went. But it's good to be talking to you guys. And I thought, rather than just go a week without any heist at all. It would be better just to record one myself,

but we're going to do this a little differently this time

because I tried doing some heist news where I just kind of read it.

And frankly, without the banter, it's just a little sad.

So what we're going to do today is we've gotten some great heist news sent in.

We've actually got an entry to the saddest heist competition that I want to talk about. But I need someone to talk about them with. And I'm going to wait until next week to do those sections. What I'm going to do today is just do a quick short mini episode where we discuss a featured heist that I thought would be a really fun one to discuss,

just so that we can kind of keep the good heist news going for one more week until Matt gets back

and then get back into the normal swing of things. So today, we're going to be talking about

a very, very, very eccentric heist. This heist is called the Great Feather Heist, and to set it up, we're going to need to go back in time in the time machine.

And again, I'm not usually the guy who usually handles the time machine. So I apologize here if this is a little rocky. But here we go.

Wow. I've never done that before without Matt, and that was terrifying. I thought I was going to fall apart like a million times. Anyways, back in 1862, we meet a guy named Alfred Russell

Wallace in London. So who is this guy? Alfred's an obsessive

biologist. He's super smart. He's good friends with a guy named Charles Darwin, calls him Chuck E.

D. And actually reached the same conclusion on the reality of evolution as Darwin did. But Darwin was kind of the figurehead behind

the whole like evolution's a big deal. And there's a few reasons for that. Darwin was a bigger,

more powerful scientist at the time. But Alfred Russell Wallace, no less, is still recognized as

this incredible biologist. He was actually the first guy to say that humans are actually really

screwing up natural environments. He was also one of the first people to discuss the possibility

of life on other planets. But he was also very eccentric and wrong about a lot of things too.
